Arceci Innovation award
We want to let you know that the Arceci Innovation award is back this year and ready for nominations.
The Fight Kids Cancer and St Baldrick's foundation sponsors it. This is a “genius” award of €250,000 a year for 4 years (€1 million in total) to support innovative childhood cancer research, targeted to investigators in their first 10 years of academic appointment at a European institution.
The process is first by nomination by a colleague and, if selected, a brief invited application describing the applicant’s “research vision.”
The award is presented at the SIOPE/ CCI-Europe conference in the Spring.
Important timelines:
1. Nominations
open 4th November 2024
due 13th December 2024 (5pm ET-US, 11pm CET)
2. Applications
Nominees for consideration chosen and invited to file application by 10th January 2025
Due 28th February (5pm ET-US, 11pm CET)
3. Grantee notified 25th April 2025
4. Award will be announced at SIOPE meeting in Budapest (14th May 2025) - See more about the event here
A brief synopsis of the profile of the desired nominee are below and the full announcement is attached.
NOMINEE CRITERIA:
Be nominated for this Innovation Award; there is no Letter of Intent/Expression of Interest and researchers may not apply directly.
Hold an M.D., a Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree(s).
Be within 10 years of their first academic appointment as of Jan. 1, 2025. Up to one additional year will be allowed for time off for medical reasons or the birth or adoption of a child.
Be nominated by a member of ASPHO, COG, SIOP, SIOPe or ITCC (no self-nominees).
Be available to attend the SIOPE / CCI-Europe annual conference in Budapest, Hungary on May 14th, 2025 (Grantee must be present)
Work in a research environment with mentoring and support conducive of continued academic success and innovation.
Have presented, published, or received funding for highly innovative research with the potential to lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate important advances in our understanding of childhood cancer.
Have demonstrated participation in team science, in addition to success in innovative discovery.
Note: This Innovation Award cannot be applied for; only Nominations are accepted.
